Marvel finalizing Paul Rudd for Ant-Man
Over the past few weeks rumors have been swirling over the casting choice for the leading man, or Ant-Man in this case, of Marvel’s next film. Today sources are confirming that former frontrunner Paul Rudd has been chosen to take on the role.
The two leading choices up until this point were Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon Levitt, who just announced that he is lending his voice to the anime ‘The Wind Rises’ and is taking on a superhero movie of his own in the future. Now sources have confirmed with Variety that Paul Rudd has taken the lead and is in final negotiations for the part of “Ant-Man.”
We already know who is directing the project, that will go to Edgar Wright, he also co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish. Marvel had no comment on the casting. Fans may remember Ant-Man as Henry Pym, a scientist who could both change his physical size and communicate with insects.
The comedic stylings of Paul Rudd have been tested in the past, but it will be interesting to see if he can pull off the leading superhero. Stranger things have happened, we had Michael Keaton as Batman, a “Clueless” Batgirl and we all survived in the end.
