Minecraft finally comes to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita version inbound

The popular indie title Minecraft is finally coming to PS3 this year, Sony Computer Entertainment made the confirmation earlier today (Monday), the game is set to release on December 17, 2013. Sony and Owen from Mojang confirmed the release date this morning on the Playstation Blog. The game has sold “over 30 million copies to date,” according to the announcement.
 
The title, “Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition,” will be available to download from PSN on December 17th in North America. Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition and Minecraft: PS Vita Edition are also being developed, but there was no specific release date given at this time.

For those of you that have toyed with the game in the past, the Minecraft: PS3 Edition will feature everything from the other versions of Minecraft; Owen stated, “They’re pretty much identical to play, and will be developed in tandem from now on.” He added that, “downloadable skins and texture packs will be available from PSN soon after release.”
 
More information on the game, the PS4 and the PS Vita edition will be released at a later date.
