Leighton Meester joins James Franco, Chris O’Dowd on Broadway for Of Mice and Men
The Broadway adaptation of ‘Of Mice and Men’ is shaping up nicely, after announcing that James Franco and Chris O’Dowd (The IT Crowd) would be taking the two male-leads, Leighton Meester has been confirmed as the latest cast member.
Leighton Meester is best known for her role on the hit series “Gossip Girl,” this will be her Broadway debut as she takes the role of the beautiful young wife that tempts Lenny in the popular story. The Producers confirmed the role Monday, the story takes place during the Great Depression and centers around the friendship and lives of two migrant field workers in California. Written by John Steinbeck George and his mentally challenged, yet hard-woking and good-hearted friend Lennie were cast earlier this year. Meester is to play the wife of the ranch boss that attracts the attention of Lenny.
Performances begin in March at the Longacre Theatre, and the Tony Award-winnning Anna D. Shapiro will direct the play.
