Although the video is titled ‘Character Progression’, the real focus is of character creation, and the new MMO will have just as many options as Elder Scrolls fans have come to expect in the past. The game foes venture into untested waters in the sense that ‘fixed classes’ don’t really apply to this game. Instead, players will gain skills and attributes much like they did in Skyrim, allowing them to level up and expand as they see fit. The “Character Progression” video, walks you through the new approach.
Players will still have the same basic MMO structure, quests, monster-slaying, experience and gear drops, but it’s your passive and active skills (coupled with your stats) that will really define your role in battle.
The upcoming MMO, The Elder Scrolls Online, is currently in beta on PC and is scheduled to release in early 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and of course PC.
