Paul-Walker-InsertIt has been confirmed that 40 year-old actor Paul Walker, star of the “Fast & Furious” franchise, died late Saturday evening in a car crash. One other person, unidentified at the time of this article, was killed in the crash that happened north of Los Angeles.
In a statement on the actor’s Facebook page, it was confirmed that he was the passenger of the car, driven by a friend, Walker was in town for a charity event for Reach Out Worldwide. The statement read, “We … are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news.” It was the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department that reported a car engulfed in flames, that ignited from a collision in Valencia. The two people who were found in the car were pronounced dead at the scene according to the reports. According to those same reports, the Porsche had crashed into a light pole, and a tree, where it then burst into flames. Walker was currently working on his next role in “Fast & Furious 7”.
In another statement, this time form Universal Pictures, the studio wrote, “All of us at Universal are heartbroken,” adding, “Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the ‘Fast and Furious’ films, and to countless fans.” The latest of the films was released this past May and took home more than $788 million worldwide.
Walker had five younger siblings and was survived by 15-year-old daughter.
