Following Black Friday, Chromebooks are becoming the best selling laptops
Every year a few select laptop brands take the lead in sales post Black Friday. These laptops move ahead either because of a low price-point, a new hardware design, or a few new features released from the manufacturer. This year it’s the Google Chromebook that’s beating out other brands as customers compare Google Chromebooks between manufacturers.
Across major retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, and Newegg, the Google Chromebook is taking the top spots on the PC/Laptop sales charts. At Amazon alone, the Chromebook takes four of the top ten-spots in the category, taking the lead for almost all of Black Friday; before giving out to other laptop brands during their lightning sales.
At the number two-spot for two-days now is the Acer C720 Chromebook (11.6-Inch) for $199 (reg. $229) shown on the right. This was the number one laptop in sales for several weeks on Amazon, jumping ahead even more when the price was reduced for Black Friday weekend. At number three is the Samsung Chromebook (Wi-Fi, 11.6-Inch) for $244. That price-point seems to be the sweet-spot for the Chromebook, hovering around $199 to $280, while still offering lightning fast speeds and easy-connect options for users.
Just announced is the Acer C720P Chromebook that customers can pre-order for the holidays. It’s a new touchscreen Chromebook that boasts an Intel Celeron 2955U 1.4 GHz Processor (2 MB Cache), 2 GB DDR3L SDRAM, a 32 GB Solid-State Drive, housed with a 11.6-Inch Touchscreen Display with Intel HD Graphics. Since it’s a Chromebook you can also count on a long battery life, this one boasts a 7.5-hour charge.
Chromebooks have become increasingly popular as customers seem to flock to the low-price, the no-hassle operating system, and are become more comfortable moving away from traditional apps, and using the internet for all of their productivity and entertainment. Going into day-two of the Black Friday Sales, it’s encouraging to see a lower-priced laptop move ahead, it hopefully will encourage other laptop manufacturers to do the same.
