Hunger Games Catching Fire breaks $25 million in opening night
The odds were definitely in the film’s favor when it hit theaters last night, and it should be no surprise that ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ dominated the box-office on Thursday. The film pulled-in $25.25 million domestically in the opening night alone (Thursday).
To give you some perspective, that’s almost a 30% increase over the original film’s opening night (also on a Thursday). That’s $25 million in the United States alone, all in one night and just the initial take on ticket sales.
The film has a long way to go to beat the record in November, held still by ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ which stood at $142.8 million for the month. The film is off to a terrific start though, it already broke the record for most advanced-ticket sales for the year ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ hopes to break any record that the Hunger Games delivers though, we will see those number this December.
The Hunger Games Catching Fire premiered last night in the United States, and is currently available at any theater that could get its hands on the film. Happy Hunger Games.
