Think of yourself visiting Candyland, but instead of gumdrops you had PS4 units; that’s the site at Amazon distribution this week. The company is prepping more PS4s then you could ever hope for, in one of the largest day-one release-operations in the company’s history. We caught up with Amazon PR, who were nice enough to share with us this virtual tour that you see above. The sheer volume of PS4s at the company’s distribution centers is amazing, workers are gently placing the PS4s onto pallets, then into boxes, then shipping them out like Santa himself to eager gamers all over the world.
The launch of the PS4 happens on Friday, and we already discussed the events and happenings that are surrounding the PS4 launch at participating GameStops, but some of us like to get our games and consoles mailed to us, and this is stage one.
A rep for Amazon told us that, “excluding Kindles, if Amazon combined preorder sales of PS4 and Xbox One consoles it would make up the largest product release in Amazon history for all categories worldwide, which is especially noteworthy given the price point of these products.” When it came to just pre-orders for the two competitors, they clocked in at nearly two times “that of video games sales on Black Friday 2012.” So you can imagine that Amazon is going to close rather high in the video game division this year.
PS4 consoles are in “Amazon’s top 5 Most Wished For items in Video Games with the PlayStation 4 Battlefield 4 Launch Day Bundle and PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Bundle taking the No. 1 and No.3 spots respectively.” Amazon admitted that there was only “a small window of availability post-E3,”, Amazon’s “Best Sellers in Video Games so far in 2013 include the PlayStation 4 Launch Edition at No. 8.”

These images are from the Amazon’s fulfillment centers in the U.S. that prepping PS4’s for release-date delivery, as promised, to customers on 11/15.
