Out with the old and in with the new, just after FOX cancelled MacFarlane’s ‘The Cleaveland Show’ the network has signed a new animated comedy named ‘Bordertown’. FOX confirmed the reports earlier this evening (Friday) and it come from MacFarlane and Family Guy producer Mark Hentemann. The animated series won’t begin until the 2014-15 season however and it wasn’t created by MacFarlane, instead Hentemann created the comedy.
The series will center on Texan local Bud Buckwald, he married and has three children (no talking animals that we know of at this point). Bud is a border-patrol agent the town will also feature a neighbor of Bud’s (a Mexican immigrant named Ernesto Gonzales and father of four).
Also joining the project is Family Guy’s Alex Carter and Dan Vebber who will serve as co-EPs. The series has been in development at the network since 2009, when Fox ultimately picked up Bob’s Burgers to series. (The network recently renewed the animated entry for a fifth season.)
The show seems to be a mix of King of the Hill and American Dad in terms of location and satire, this comes as American Dad is finishing its 10th and final season on FOX. TBS will pick up American Dad for the 11th season, and fans follow-it, maybe it will last a little longer (I sure hope so).
