As first suspected, the next season of Glee will be the last for the popular teen-drama. Co-creator Ryan Murphy made the announcement earlier today. It was at the Paley Center event, designed to celebrate the FX Network late last night, that Murphy said the show will end after the sixth season.
Also mentioned was the final ending, which had to be altered because of the death of cast member Cory Monteith. After that tragic event, the creators had to change their original ending of the show.
Murphy stated, “The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story. I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was, he was in it. I knew what the last line was, she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.”
It was earlier this month that Glee bid farewell to Monteith’s character. The episode in which the cast said goodbye to Finn was Glee’s highest rated, and most touching, episode of the season.
