Count the horror references in Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Simpsons’ Intro
Let’s play a game. How many horror franchises can you spot in the new Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror intro directed by the popular Guillermo del Toro? The intro was released earlier today as a promo for the very popular Halloween episode of The Simpsons.
Fans of The Simpson can watch the new episode this Sunday, though it is a little earlier than most of their Halloween themed shows. As always you can expect to see The Simpsons taking their own version of popular horror franchises, and pointing out their flaws, or praising their antics.
There are an incredible amount of references in the intro alone, not even considering how many will take place in the actual episode. Not to be left out, you will also see quite a few of Guillermo del Toro’s films being mocked/celebrated as well. The 2006 Oscar-nominated indie-classic Pan’s Labyrinth can be found in the intro, one of Guillermo del Toro’s signature films.
You will see more of Guillermo del Toro when his new title ‘Crimson Peak’ premieres, that project will star Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska.
The Simpsons’ “Treehouse of Horror XXIV” airs Sunday, October 6th.
