Benedict Cumberbatch aims to star in ‘Lost City of of Z’
While making the rounds at the Toronto Film Festival, it appears that Benedict Cumberbatch is in talks to star in ‘Lost City Of Z’. The film is being directed by James Gray who also wrote the film-adaptation to the popular novel. That novel was written by David Grann, and quickly became a bestselling book (link below). If the deal goes through, then Cumberbatch will take the lead as Percy Fawcett.
The explorer, Fawcett, trekked through the Amazon jungle in 1925, stricken by Malaria he found the ‘The Lost City Of Z’, though without proof of the findings he was unable to convince others of its location. Returning with his son and other adventurers, none of them returned from their journey. To this day it is unclear what happened to the party.
Jeremy Kleiner, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Anthony Katagas are set to produce the project. As you can imagine the book is a fantastic tale of adventure and if you haven’t picked it up you should consider it.
