Bryan Cranston moves on from Breaking Bad to star in Trumbo
Although fans may never want AMC’s hit series ‘Breaking Bad’ to end, the final episodes are almost here. The success of the series helped Bryan Cranston land a new role in a major production though, the actor will take on the role of Dalton Trumbo in Trumbo. The character is of historic significance, he was one of the few people that managed to penetrate Hollywood’s infamous blacklist in the 1950s.
Prior to his arrest, Trumbo was the highest paid screenwriter in the business, he was an expected communist supporter and was sent to prison after refusing to answer questions from Congress’ House of Un-American Activities. He was eventually released, though unable to work, so he wrote under a false-name and won two Academy Awards by doing so.
It was men like Trumbo that helped bring down the Un-American Activities and the blacklist in general. The film won’t begin production until 2014.
