AMC is finalizing the details on a new companion series that will run parallel to the popular series “The Walking Dead”. The new series will have executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert.
Fans will have to wait until 2015 before the series premieres however. AMC will have some large holes in its lineup after the conclusion of “Breaking Bad” in 2013, and “Mad Men” in 2014. We announced that AMC will also premiere a “Breaking Bad” spinoff, that series is called “Better Call Saul.”
As the top-rated scripted show on television there was little doubt that AMC wouldn’t want to have a spinoff series for the Walking Dead, though it was never confirmed in the past. Charlie Collier, AMC’s president and general manager stated, “Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer. We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”
All of these announcements comes as Season four of “The Walking Dead” is set to return to AMC on Oct. 13.
