Miley Cyrus lands two spots in charts following VMAs, Gaga and Perry out in front
It seems that all of the bad press that Cyrus and MTV have been getting for the pop-princess’ wild VMA performance is only helping her career. Miley performed at the MTV Video Music Awards this past Sunday, and since then her iTunes sales have been through the roof.
Out of the Top 10 songs on iTunes, Cyrus landed two singles on the top 10 singles with her new song “Wrecking Ball” at No. 3 and “We Can’t Stop” at No. 6. The song that Cyrus sang with Thicke “Blurred Lines,” is right there with her tracks at Number 5 on the charts.
Also performed at the VMAs and doing very well are Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ gay-rights anthem “Same Love,” featuring Mary Lambert, that hit the Top 10 at No. 9. As expected Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Lady Gaga’s “Applause” took the top spots, trading with each other at No. 1 and No. 2 depending on when you check.
With 10.1 million viewers MTV saw a 66% increase in viewership when compared to 2012’s VMAs. Cyrus took home Twitter with 4.5 million mentions because of her performance.
