Stephen Moyer from True Blood joins Carrie Underwood in ‘Sound of Music’ for NBC
Stephen Moyer, from the hit series True Blood has been confirmed as the latest addition to the NBC live holiday production of “The Sound of Music” airing on December 5, 2013. Moyer has accepted the role of World War I hero Capt. Georg Von Trapp, father of seven famous Von Trapp children.
As many people already know, the story of ‘The Sound Music’ has Von Trapp chooses young governess named Maria to tend to his children. Carrie Underwood is set to star as Maria.
The NBC production is based on the original 1959 Broadway production of “The Sound of Music,” which starred Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel. Most people will remember the 1965 film version starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, that production won five Academy Awards, including best picture. The music and lyrics for “The Sound of Music” were written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, respectively. he starred in the Hollywood Bowl’s production of the iconic musical “Chicago,” where he played charismatic attorney Billy Flynn.
“The Sound of Music” is executive produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan. Beth McCarthy-Miller and Rob Ashford will serve as directors.
