In case you have forgotten, the highly anticipated book ‘The Bone Season’ was released today. The author, Samantha Shannon, has been making the rounds promoting the book and spent time today on Amazon talking about the book’s release and a few other personal details about writing and reading.
For those of you that are new to her work, Shannon’s fantasy novel ‘The Bone Season’ hits shelves today (August 20th). She described the book as ,”A gritty, futuristic fantasy about criminal clairvoyants – and their enemies,” when asked by the host to describe the novel in under ten words. In the quick Q&A the author talked about what she’s been reading lately (Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke) and a little about her favorite books ‘The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood’; ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell’; ‘The Complete Robot’ by Isaac Asimov; ‘Neverwhere’ by Neil Gaiman; ‘Villette’ by Charlotte Brontë; ‘Great Expectations’ by Charles Dickens (just her personal choices off the top of her head).
Just like the rest of the world, Shannon has been catching up on Game of Thrones stating, “Game of Thrones – the show, that is. I usually make it a priority to read a book before I see any film or TV adaptations, but with Game of Thrones I’m doing it the other way around. I have read the first book in the series, though. Loved it.”
Her book launched today and it has already received terrific early reviews, and is quickly climbing the charts at Amazon. You can check out the interview and her book on Amazon’s official site below.
