Sony confirms release date for PS4 on November 15
As expected, Sony Computer Entertainment revealed the official launch date of the Playstation 4 at the annual GamesCom Convention. The company took the the stage to talk about new features and titles coming to the Sony family of consoles and handhelds, and announced that the PS4 will be available on November 15, 2013 in North America, Europe on 29th.
This of course put the PS4 in a prime shopping season, as the holiday season will be fully underway when the PS4 is launched this fall. Sony is selling the PS4 for just $399, a large difference form the PS3 when it launched all those years ago.
Getting a PS4 on launch day will be almost impossible, at least according to almost every analysts in the industry, who all predict that the high rate of pre-orders, and holiday shoppers will deplete stocks across the country.
Although getting a launch-day PS4 may be very hard, you can still pre-order a console with hopes of getting it before the holiday. There’s no promise at this point from major retailers, but pre-ordering a console or console bundle now will put you at the top of an ever-growing list. GameStop has stopped taking pre-orders for the highly anticipated unit, while Best Buy goes in and out of stock, disabling pre-orders at times. Amazon is really your safest bet at this point, and offers a wide-array of console options and bundles. You can also take advantage of the free shipping, or the free Amazon Prime shipping if you are a member.
