E L James beats out Suzanne Collins and James Patterson for top-seller
Forbes released its top-selling authors of the year, with ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ author E.L. James taking the top-spot. It was another tough year for authors, with best-selling series taking up the majority of the list yet again.
In the end James took in over $94 million for her trilogy of books, the first becoming an international sensations and soon to be made into a movie. 50 Shades of Grey won over audiences as they got to know the secret erotic-lives of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. The original concept of the book was a fan-fiction piece based on non-other than Twilight’s vampire characters.
James of course wasn’t the only hugely successful author this year, ‘The Hunger Games’ author, Suzanne Collins, also made the list. The successful film starring Jennifer Lawrence no doubt helped Collins skyrocket to the number-three spot. When the dust settled Collins took home $55 million for her works this year.
James Patterson is usually at number one, though this year he will take the silver price with $91 million in earnings. Rounding out fourth place was Bill ‘Papa Bear’ O’Reilly earning $28 million. His works “Killing Lincoln,” “Killing Kennedy,” and next up “Killing Jesus,” will most-likely see his return next year to the list.
Just like every year, these authors and others on the list get a special promotional-price on sites like Amazon below, so you can catch up on the best-of-the-best (before their respective movies come out usually).
