Lifetime is obviously pleased with how ‘Devious Maids’ performed last year, the network has confirmed that it will be bringing the series back for a second season. It was Lifetime executive vice president and general manager Rob Sharenow that broke the news early today (Tuesday).
The series itself stars a latin-american cast, something that was praised at first then shot down since they are all maids, many feel that the casting only enhances stereotypes. These maids are Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes. ABC shot down the series at first, but Lifetime picked it up in the end and it is doing well enough to earn a second season at least.
The show is based on the telenova “Ellas son la Alegría del Hogar,” and chronicles the life of five maids that work in Beverly Hills residents for eccentric clients. The show will return to Sundays at 10 p.m.
