Next Mission Impossible to be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, star Tom Cruise
The next installment to the ‘Mission Impossible’ series has a director, Christopher McQuarrie. Also confirmed from Skydance Productions and Paramount Pictures is that Tom Cruise will be returning to the leading role.
Once again playing Ethan Hunt, this will be the same director that worked with Tom Cruise on the 2012 feature ‘Jack Reacher’. This will be the fifth film in the rebooted franchise, the story for the fifth film was written by Drew Pearce, financed by Tom Cruise Productions, Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot.
“I am thrilled to reunite with Chris for the latest installment in the Mission series,” Cruise said in a prepared statement. “I began producing the films with the goal that a different director with his own vision would make each one. Chris is an extraordinary filmmaker who will deliver the heart-pounding action and thrills that audiences around the world have come to expect from the Mission: Impossible franchise.”
Brad Bird was the previous director, the film took in close to $700 million around the world.
