During the Star Wars Celebration in Europe, Lucasfilm offered fans their first look at Star Wars Rebels, the follow-up to ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’. You can checkout the newly released images and details right here.
Although the official logo was already revealed, the new images show fans what the series should look like when it released later next year. Star Wars Rebels won’t release until fall 2014, it will be a one-hour special on the Disney Channel, afterwards it will become a new series on Disney XD.
It was Executive Producer Dave Filoni that said the design was inspired by the original Star Wars concept art, created by Ralph McQuarrie. “We wanted to create a look for this part of Star Wars that precedes A New Hope by just a little bit,” Filoni stated. “We’re going for something that’s much more an illustrative look.”
The Clone Wars did amazingly well, it had five seasons on Cartoon Network, then Disney bought Lucasfilm and shutdown the series with plans to create this new one.
