In the back of all Whovian’s minds as they waited in line to enter the BBC ‘Doctor Who’ panel, was the faintest hope that they will somehow learn a clue that will lead them to the next Doctor. Ever since Doctor #11, Matt Smith, announced that he would not be returning to the series, fans all over the world have been searching for clues on who will be the next actor to play the iconic role.
It was writer Steven Moffat, the current writer for the popular Sci-Fi series, that confirmed that no one has been picked to replace Matt Smith. “We haven’t done that yet,” he told a disheartened, yet still excited crowd, on Sunday. He was asked by members of the audience that attended the panel for the show in famous ‘Hall H’ of Comic Con. The crowd may have been let-down a little not to learn any clues, but many came dressed as Doctors, companions and the tardis. Almost everyone had their own sonic screwdrivers ready to display, and they all erupted in applause when the trailer for the 50th anniversary show came on the screen. That episode is slated to come out later this year.
Smith appeared with his predecessor, the beloved David Tennant, and Billie Piper as Rose and actor John Hurt were on screen for the big hype-trailer for the 50th episode. Though they may not know who will play Doctor #12, the fans seem more eager than ever for more Doctor Who.
