Another year and another list of blockbuster films are making an appearance at Comic Con 2013. There is so much to see and do this year, you won’t want to miss your favorite actors and directors at their panels. From “The Hunger Games” to “Ender’s Game” novel adaptations are some of the most popular films of 2013 and they are both schedule to host panels for fans and the press. Then you have your superhero movies like ‘Thor 2,’ ‘X-Men,’ ‘Captain America’ and ‘Spider-Man 2,’ all of which will be hosting their own panels this year as well.
We of course will be covering all of the official announcements, teasers and media that is released from the event, so if you can’t make it just be sure you’re following us on social media and you’ll get all the information as it is released, plus recaps of each day. If you are going and need to plan out your trip, these are the panels that you may want to add to your itinerary. We also took the time to verify who is scheduled to appear at each panel (and who might surprise everyone) and where they are located for our readers that are traveling to Comic Con. I of course expect people to let me know on Twitter who is coming, so I can say hi and exchange awesome swag and gifts. Of course with every Comic Con appearances can change and new people can show up unannounced or bail at the last minute, either way this is the official schedule of events.
Ender’s Game

  • Who: Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and Abigail Breslin, plus producer Roberto Orci and director Gavin Hood
  • When: Thursday, July 18, at 3:50 p.m. (part of the Summit Entertainment panel)
  • Where: Hall H
  • This is one of the biggest films that is premiering in 2013 and it has an amazing cast of both veteran and new actors. Harrison Ford appearing is one of the top reasons to hit up this panel, but there will also be new never-before-seen footage from the film as well, shown to the audience first and then the world./li>

The-Hunger-Games-Catching-Fire-InsertThe Hunger Games: Catching Fire

  • Who: No confirmations yet, see below.
  • When: Saturday, July 20, at 1:35 p.m.
  • Where: Hall H
  • There hasn’t been any confirmations yet on which of the actors will appear at this panel but Jennifer Lawrence is also in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ so it would make sense for her to be there. This is also the first year that ‘The Hunger Games’ is hosting a panel, so you can expect some big names to appear unannounced to drive up press from the event and really make a splash at the film’s Comic Con debut. At the very least there will be new footage from the film.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

  • Who: Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has been confirmed but so far Marvel hasn’t confirmed an appearance from Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie or Emily VanCamp
  • When: Saturday, July 20, at 6 p.m. (part of the Marvel Studios panel)
  • Where: Hall H
  • This is just one of Marvel’s major titles that are coming to Comic Con but in the past Marvel has been a fan of surprises. Most likely the new directors will make an appearance (the President of Marvel is taking the time to go, so you can bet they put pressure on everyone else to make an appearance and surprise fans as well)

Amazing Spider-Man 2

  • Who: Andrew Garfield and director Marc Webb are confirmed.
  • When: Friday, July 19, at 4:05 p.m.
  • Where: Hall H
  • This is one of Sony Pictures leading franchises and they aren’t going to let an event like Comic Con go by without exciting fans. Sony has already confirmed a third film and a fourth film so a lot is riding on the sequel. There will be new footage shown and everyone is expecting Jamie Foxx to make an unscheduled stop at the panel.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

  • Who: No confirmations yet, see below.
  • When: Saturday, July 20, at 4:15 p.m. (part of the 20th Century Fox panel)
  • Where: Hall H
  • This film has such a giant cast that it’s hard to tell exactly who will be there, but on the bright side that means you’re even more likely to see a mutant or two hit the panel. Director Bryan Singer should appear, and it’s also been rumored that Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy will show up as well (McAvoy is also appearing in FILTH so he has a lot to promote as well). Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart are two of the classic hopefuls that might appear, and since ‘The Wolverine’ is still doing press-tours Jackman showing up is a strong possibility.

Thor: The Dark World

  • Who:You of course will see Feige but Chris Hemsworth isn’t confirmed but he is expected. Alan Taylor has been confirmed but Tom Hiddleston is only rumored at this point.
  • When: Saturday, July 20, at 6 p.m. (part of the Marvel Studios panel)
  • Where: Hall H
  • With a sequel you should always expect bigger, bigger effects, bigger stars, bigger explosion and bigger profits.  Fans should be treated to an extended look at Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) and if you’re super lucky, Natalie Portman.

Veronica Mars

  • Who: Director Rob Thomas, Kristen Bell, Francis Capra, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs II, Jason Dohring, Ryan Hansen, Chris Lowell, Tina Majorino, and Krysten Ritter will be joining Comic Con 2013.
  • When: Friday, July 19, at 11:15 a.m.
  • Where: Hall H
  • Since this film was bought and paid for on Kickstarter by its fans and the community, you can actually say the group owes it to the fans to appear at Comic-Con and actually be right. This year you can expect to hear a lot about how great it is to be with the cast again, then you will see a lot of new footage from the movie.

How To Train Your Dragon 2

  • Who: Director Dean DeBlois has been confirmed.
  • When: Thursday, July 18, at 11:45 a.m. (part of the Dreamworks Animation Filmmaker Focus panel)
  • Where: Room 6A
  • Fans should hear more about the plot of this year’s film straight from the director himself. There will also be an extended trailer, based on the teaser trailer that was released by Warner Bros. yesterday. You can expect a few members of the voice cast to stop by, but WB hasn’t made any confirmations at this time.

  • Who: The original novelist Veronica Roth, director Neil Burger, and stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller, Maggie Q are just a few the names that have been confirmed for this panel.
  • When: Thursday, July 18, at 3:50 p.m. (part of the Summit Entertainment panel)
  • Where: Hall H
  • This is Summit’s big franchise, if you are attending then you will see the first footage ever released for the film before anyone else does and might get a few surprises at the panel.

  • Who: TBA
  • When: Friday, July 19, at 4:05 p.m. (during the Sony/Screen Gems panel)
  • Where: Hall H
  • The official report from Studio Screen Gems is to “expect surprises.” That could mean something great, like Sissy Spacek or Chloë Moretz showing up, or it could be a giant letdown. Either way ‘Carrie’ is one of the biggest reboots in the horror genre this year and you will get to see more of the film. Moretz will most likely be at Comic Con anyway to promote ‘Kick-Ass 2’.

Godzilla, Gravity, All You Need is Kill

  • Who: TBA
  • When: Saturday, July 20, at 10:45 a.m. (part of the Warner Bros./Legendary panel)
  • Where: Hall H
  • All of these films are grouped together under the WB and Legendary panel. It’s a complete guess as to which actors and directors show up. You could get Tom Cruise, you could get nothing. Godzilla needs the most coverage, the film was only teased last year and Gravity has Bullock and Clooney to promote it, while All You Need is Kill has Tom Cruise. With Godzilla you can expect more details to finally be released, along with the first ever trailer for the film.
