Tom Hanks is already amazing, it’s hard to find one-complaint about the hilarious, yet instantly dramatic, actor online. That’s why it should be no surprise that Hanks already looks like he’s nailing his new role as Walt Disney.
The first image of the Hanks in the upcoming Disney film “Saving Mr. Banks,” was posted by Time earlier this afternoon. It’s also your first look at Emma Thompson in the film. The story will follow Hanks (Walt Disney) and tell the true-life tale of how Walt secured the rights to “Mary Poppins” from author P.L. Travers (played by the also perfect Emma Thompson). It was that deal that gave Walt the greenlight for the 1964 iconic film, a deal that took Walt 20 years to complete. The movie itself “Saving Mr. Banks,” was written by Kelly Marcel (“Fifty Shades of Grey”).
Fans won’t have to wait too long to see Hanks play the mouse-loving dreammaker, the film is scheduled to launch this holiday season. The scene shown in the picture is when Travers came to Disneyland, in 1961 and met Walt Disney.
“Savings Mr. Banks” opens in theaters Dec. 13.
