The final season of AMC’s popular series ‘Breaking Bad’ is almost here, but as fans come to terms with losing one of their favorite shows, a new series is on its way. A spinoff is in the works for Breaking Bad, and here are the details.
The creator of Breaking Bad, Vince Gilligan, has stated that he and writer Peter Gould are moving “full speed ahead” on a new spinoff series. There are only eight full episodes left, and they will start on August 11, 2013. The series will follow Bob Odenkirk and Saul Goodman.
Sony will make the final call but Gilligan and Gould will be pitching the idea. The duo told TheWrap on Tuesday that the project is in motion, and it is the only project from the series at this time. This is assuming of course that Goodman will even be alive at the end of “Breaking Bad” to continue the storyline, they could always make a prequel, leading up to the original series.
Vince Gilligan stated that, “It’s not a done deal yet, but it’s definitely something we’re full speed ahead on trying to get going”. Gillian added, “As you can imagine with Saul Goodman as a character, a show like that would have to have plenty of humor to it. But also because he works for some pretty scary clientele sometimes, there’d be a bit of drama in it as well. We’re trying to nail that down. As of yet, we haven’t completely figured that out ourselves.”
You can read the entire interview on the TheWrap, and just sit hoping that a spinoff will extend the small universe of Breaking Bad, a little longer.
