Sara Canning (Vampire Diaries) as well as Ian Tracey and Jodi Balfour have all joined the cast of the untitled projected focusing on famed photographer and early cinematic pioneer Eadweard Muybridge.
Kyle Rideout is set to direct the film, which wil also star Michael Eklund and is being produced by Josh Epstein. The principal photography on the film will start next week, that will take place in Vancouver.
If you need a quick history lesson, Muybridge was a 19th-century photographer, while his early work centered on nude and deformed subjects, his device the ‘zoopraxiscope’ was used in landscape shots and is one of the earliest known workings of motion photography.
It’s not a happy tale however, he later killed his wife’s lover in a rage. Canning will play Muybridge’s wife, a usual subject in his early work. Tracey will portray the founder of Stanford University, who makes the now “world famous bet” and pays Muybridge to prove it.
In case you didn’t know, the bet was to confirm if a horse ever took all 4 hooves off the ground while sprinting (it does) but to capture the horse in all if its motions, the first motion-picture was in a senses born.
