Zach Braff will star as David Shayne in Broadway adaptation of Woody Allen film

A new Broadway adaptation of Woody Allen’s film ‘Bullets Over Broadway’ is taking the stage with Zach Braff in the leading role.

Zach-Braff-InsertThe initial casting list has already been confirmed, as well as the premier dates. Soon ticket-holders will get to see the world premiere musical version of the film set to begin next spring. As we mentioned above, Zach Braff will star as David Shayne, the aspiring playwright who was portrayed by John Cusack in the 1994 film. Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos) will play the financial backer for David’s vision. There is a catch of course, the playwright must add a role for the backer’s horribly suited mistress (played by Helene Yorke).

Brooks Ashmanskas, Betsy Wolfe and Leny Wolpe also have been cast in the musical. Previews will begin on March 11 and open April 10 at the St. James Theatre. Susan Stroman (Mel Brooks’ The Producers) will direct and choreograph Allen’s own adaptation of the movie.
