Although Walmart, Target and other brick-and-mortar stores are distancing themselves from the once pristine southern personality of Paula Dean, customers online are buying her products at an astounding rate.
It may be to show their support of the cooking-queen, or all of the exposure may have allowed Paula Dean to tap into a once unexplored market of consumers. Either way on both Amazon and eBay almost every Paula Deen product has seen a dramatic increase in sales-rankings. Her latest book, “Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Recipes, All Lightened Up,” which won’t release until October 2013, has jumped to the No. 1 spot on Amazon.com. “Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible,” is currently No. 13 on Amazon, and more of her books aren’t even available because they are currently out of stock.
The cookbooks have even ousted the unstoppable ‘Game of Thrones’ series in Amazon’s top-selling books. Many people have conflicting opinions on what has happened to the Cooking star since she admitted to using a racial slur 30 years ago, but it seems that where retailers are reluctant to forgive, customers are willing.
