Although Sandra Bullock was expected to take the role, it seems that Cameron Diaz will be stepping into the shoes of Miss Hannigan in the adaptation of Annie.
It was confirmed earlier today (Thursday) that Cameron Diaz has signed with Sony to take on the famous role. The new, and very updated project has some very big names behind it, including producers Will Smith and Jay-Z. Quvenzhane Wallis will be your title character, Jamie Foxx will play the modern-day Daddy Warbucks, (though he is now called Benjamin Stacks). Fans of the classic tale know Miss Hannigan as the horrible leader of the orphanage. The most famous actress to play the role was Carol Burnett, who took on Hannigan in 1982. The film will be directed by Will Gluck.
More information on the project, including trailers and cast-listings will be released as the project moves further along in production.
