Ellen Page “they ripped off my likeness” in The Last of Us
When the co-star character of ‘The Last of Us’, a young-girl named Ellie, was first shown to audiences, everyone noticed just how much she looked like Ellen Page not her voice actress Ashley Johnson. It turns out, Page wasn’t really aware of the likeness until it was too late.
Ashley Johnson voiced Ellie, one of the survivors in Naughty Dog’s latest video game ‘The Last of Us’. During development Naughty Dog actually altered Ellie’s appearance, from its original design, to fit the voice better, though in the end Ellie still looked a lot like Ellen Page.
Recently Page took place in a Reddit Ask Me Anything, where Page stated she did not “appreciate” her likeness being “ripped off” by the developers at Naughty Dog. The topic was brought up:
This has almost certainly been made clear to you several times, but are you aware how much you look like Ellie from “The Last of Us,” a video game which came out about a week ago. She even sounds like you. So much so that almost everyone assumed it was you playing the role. Which leads me to my questions… “How did you like playing the role of a video game character when doing “Beyond: Two Souls?” Do you prefer live action? Have you seen any footage of “The Last of Us” and would you have taken the role as Ellie if approached?”
Page answered by saying, “I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated.”
