Earlier today it was confirmed that MGM and Fox 2000 Pictures will co-finance and distribute a reboot of the popular horror franchise “Poltergeist.”
The director of the film will be Gil Kenan with producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert through the Ghost House Pictures banner with Roy Lee. MGM has already released three “Poltergeist” titles spanning the 1980s, the first of which was produced by Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall starring Craig T. Nelson and Jobeth Williams as the parents of the ghost communicating young girl. It is considered by many to be one of the classic horror titles in the genre.
David Lindsay-Abaire is writing the screenplay and production is expected to start this fall. ‘The Grudge’ Nathan Kahane will take the role of executive producer.
