The highly anticipated Nvidia SHIELD finally has a release date, and along with that, another goody has been dropped in our laps.
SHIELD will release on June 27th, 2013. The goody that dropped in our laps? A price drop to $299 (down from $349), which will also be reflected in those who have already pre-ordered the device.
We all know what SHIELD can do; provide quality Android gaming with an added bonus of being able to stream PC titles directly to the SHIELD device. Imagine that, playing Borderlands 2 on a handheld device.
Nvidia put out a blog highlighting the news, and also thanked all of those who had a chance to check out the SHIELD and gave feedback:
Since then, we’ve put SHIELD in the hands of thousands of gamers. Some have been professional press. Others have been inside our own company. But most have been people like the tens of thousands who streamed through our booth at PAX East and E3.
And their reactions have been more than just positive.
They’ve helped us build a better product. Feedback from gamers is why SHIELD’s triggers have the perfect throw length. Why SHIELD’s buttons have just the right amount of give. Why SHIELD’s thumb sticks are so satisfying to flick. Why playing games on SHIELD’s pure Android software feels so slick.
June 27th. $299. Awesome.
