Ethan Hawke’s career is currently on the upswing. The actor recently starred in the surprisingly profitable thriller ‘The Purge,’ while also releasing ‘Before Midnight’. Now the actor is taking time away from the camera and hitting the stage.
The major projects in Hawke’s immediate future are the release of the film ‘Getaway’ and the release of ‘Body Defenders’ (Predestination will also feature Hawke and that project has begun filming). On Lincoln Center stage Hawke will play the king of Scotland himself, directed by talented Jack O’Brien. Speaking to the PBS series “Shakespeare Uncovered,” Hawke stated, “It’s a part I’ve always wanted to play.” The actor went on to say, “When you think of violent murders, brutal crimes, nightmarish horrors, you might think of the big city, you might think of Manhattan. Or, if you’re like me, you might think a little bit past that to about a 400-year-old play named ‘Macbeth,’”
Previews of the play will begin on October 24, 2013. Other performances supported by the Lincoln Center Theater this summer are James Lapine’s “Act One” adapted from Moss Hart’s autobiography; tje Bruce Norris’ play “Domesticated,” and Anthony Giardina’s “The City of Conversation.”
