The creators of Family Guy aren’t going let an opportunity like a full-page Emmy consideration request in a national magazine go by without getting at least one good shot in at pop-culture.
The popular Seth MacFarlane series took out an ad with THR (shown to the right) and in that ad Peter, Quagmire, Brian and Joe are depicting the four main characters in HBO’s hit series ‘Girls’. To top it off, the plug for the ad states, “Here’s a load of comedy to shoot on your chest.” The Fox comedy has always been known to push borders, though it should be noted that the magazine that the ad is shown in has an older demographic, so if you are worried you can rest easy knowing children everywhere are safe from an innuendo.
During this time of year, all the major shows will be placing ads on websites, taking out ads in magazines and begging for votes in this year’s Emmy campaign. Twentieth Century Fox TV abought the ad-space in the June 21 issue of THR, the three men and the dog are portraying the actors Jemima Kirke, Allison Williams, Lena Dunham and Zosia Mamet.
It should be noted that Family Guy and Girls are in the same comedic category for the same Emmy.
