It was heartbreaking to inform you all that Futurama will be entering into its final season this year. To kick off the event though, Comedy Central will be hosting a “Back to the Futurama” event leading up to the premier.
Comedy Central confirmed with us earlier today that the network will be celebrating the launch of the final season of “Futurama” with seven hours of some of the series’ best episodes. Tune in for “Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder” at 7:00 p.m., and stay put to see the whole gang get resurrected in a season six marathon starting at 9:00 p.m. Then be sure to catch the two-episode premiere of the final season on Wednesday, June 19 at 10:00 p.m.
Also happening this week on Comedy Central is the revamped “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” now with guest host John Oliver. The guests for this week’s all-new episodes of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” include actress Linda Cardellini promoting AMC’s “Mad Men” (Monday, June 17); Jim Gaffigan, comedian and author of new book “Dad Is Fat” (Tuesday, June 18); documentary filmmaker Dawn Porter promoting “Gideon’s Army” (Wednesday, June 19); and Tom Brokaw, NBC News Special Correspondent and host of the Military Channel’s “The Brokaw Files” (Thursday, June 20).
Right after that you have ‘The Colbert Report’ (a personal favorite) with Olympia Snowe, author of “Fighting for Common Ground: How We Can Fix the Stalemate in Congress” (Monday, June 17); Jeremy Scahill, author of “Dirty Wars: The World Is A Battlefield” (Tuesday, June 18); The Postal Service, promoting the deluxe 10th anniversary edition of their album “Give Up” (Wednesday, June 19); and Joss Whedon, director of “Much Ado About Nothing” (Thursday, June 20).
“Inside Amy Schumer” is another one of Comedy Central’s breakout hits this season. In this week’s all-new episode titled “Clown Panties,” Amy catches her boyfriend cheating, fights an addiction, and roasts a 12-year-old. When Amy comes home to find a pair of clown panties in her hallway,
she is quick to accuse her boyfriend of cheating on her with a circus performer.
Futurama Schedule: Wednesday, June 19 (Futurama Two-Episode Premiere)
10:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. “2-D Blacktop”
10:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. “Fry and Leela’s Big Fling”
This is it, “Futurama” fans. The final season has landed. This week in the two-episode season seven b premiere Professor Farnsworth joins a gang of street-racing punks in “2-D Blacktop” from 10:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., and Fry and Leela’s romantic vacation goes disturbingly wrong in “Fry and Leela’s Big Fling” from 10:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Join Fry, Leela, Bender and the gang for some of their wildest adventures yet as they take up drag racing, resurrect a dead robot, and somehow manage to save the world for the hundredth time.
