Showtime renews Nurse Jackie for season 6

Although the fifth season is wrapping up in just a few day, the sixth season of Showtime’s popular series ‘Nurse Jackie’ has already been confirmed.
Showtime made the confirmation earlier today, the network extended the show for at least one more season. On average the show pulls in 3.1 million viewers a week across all platforms. “Nurse Jackie is an essential part of the Showtime brand, and we are thrilled with the series’ growth in its fifth season,” Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins said. “Under the new leadership of Clyde Phillips, and with an amazing cast led by Edie Falco, this show is as sharp and compelling and entertaining as ever. I’m excited to get to see the next chapter in Jackie’s life.”
The show has had a successful past as well, picking up three Emmys for Falco as Jackie Payton. The show is co-produced through Lionsgate TV. The season five finale airs June 16, 2013.
