Microsoft and 343 Industries to bring Halo Spartan Assault to Window 8, Windows 8 phone

Microsoft and 343 Industries revealed a brand new “Halo” experience for Windows 8. The game will be available this July for $6.99 and only on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

The game is called “Halo: Spartan Assault,” and it is the first top-down action shooter that brings a “Halo” video game to touch-based devices. The story fits between the events of “Halo 3” and “Halo 4,” “Halo: Spartan Assault” features a unique fusion of touch and console-like controls for easy pick-up-and-play gaming, with the added flexibility of keyboard and mouse controls on Windows 8 PCs and tablets.

There will be 25 unique missions “featuring unrivaled action and intensity” according to the developers, and the single-player experience will allow you to compete against friends in Leaderboards and Weekly Challenges. For fans who already have a prospering Spartan career aboard the UNSC Infinity, “Halo: Spartan Assault” lets you earn experience points (XP), all-new Achievements, and emblems for your “Halo 4” Spartan, with additional integration features available after launch.
