After a lengthy and remarkably successful launch on iOS, Vine is now ready to debut on Android powered phones. Users can download the application starting today, here are the details.
The Vine app s now ready for Android smartphones and is now available to download. You will need to be using Android 4.0 or higher to use the application however. The Android version of the application is 100% as functional as the iOS version, though it did launch this afternoon. The application will match its iOS counterpart overtime however. These upcoming features include search, mentions and hashtags for Vine videos.
Although it is missing iOS features, only the Android version will get the ability to ‘zoom’. There are over 13 million users that utilize the Vine application. That is a staggering number considering that the application launched in January of this year. Twitter stated on the official blog: “Though we’ve been very focused on releasing Vine for Android, we’ve continued to release updates and add new features to the iOS app”. The company added “Over the coming weeks, you’ll see frequent updates with new features –– including front-facing camera, search, mentions and hashtags, and the ability to share to Facebook –– as well as bug fixes and performance improvements”
