The first weekend of June usually brings with it a cavalcade of promotions and deals as retailers hope to capture the attention of Father’s Day shoppers, graduation-day shoppers and summer-beach vacationers. This year the focus is on tablets, games and electronics.
Video Game retailers seems to be focusing more on the upcoming summer titles rather than discounted previous installments. Games like Naughty Dog’s ‘The Last of Us’, EA’s ‘Madden 25’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ all include some very impressive pre-order bonuses for people on your list. ‘The Last of Us’ comes with free DLC, bonus cash in the form of giftcards if you order from Amazon and other goodies are include in the pre-order and collector’s editions. Other publishers like EA have partnered with Direct TV to offer a special promo code that will be included entitling customers to an exclusive promotion, including $10 off per month for their first year of service, and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge. Other titles that release this fall include ‘Watch Dogs’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed V: Black Flag,’ both of which have ample DLC to entice buyers to pre-order the game as a gift.
Students get Office 365 University for just $79.99 for 4 years, using a .edu address to register the service. The Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T Tablet (White) is discounted by $100.00 this weekend, while the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro 700T Tablet is $200 off. The official Microsoft Store is bundling its own Surface tablet with the popular ‘Touch Cover’ (which normally runs at least $100) as a free inclusion if you purchase a tablet this weekend. Best Buy has a few promotions for dads and grads, including the HP: ENVY TouchSmart Ultrabook 14″ Touch-Screen Laptop, with 4GB Memory and a 500GB Hard Drive for $649 for a limited time. Also at Best Buy is the Toshiba Satellite 15.6″ Laptop with 4GB Memory and a 500GB Hard Drive for only $249.
