X-Men Days of Future Past and The Avengers 2: The Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch dilema
There is possible tear in the fabric of the Marvel Universe and it surrounds two characters that are planned to be featured in both ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ and ‘The Avengers 2’. Those two characters are ‘Quicksliver’ and his sister, the ‘Scarlet Witch’.
The two siblings are both expected to make an appearance in the two before-mentioned titles, and although they are both from the Marvel universe, the two films are being produced by two separate studios. Joss Whedon is set to direct ‘The Avengers 2’ and he is fully prepared to have the two characters in his film, the problem is that Bryan Singer, the directer of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ has already cast Evan Peters (American Horror Story) to play the role of Quicksilver.
A studio crossover is possible, you can have the same actors play the same characters in both films but it is extremely complicated to do so and would be very unlikely. The X-Men storyline is where Quicksilver originates, he is the son of Magneto, but he and his sister both eventually become part of ‘The Avengers’ cast. You can see how something so pivotal to both movies would cause a problem for both studios. Whedon hasn’t disclosed who would play Quicksilver or Scarlet Witch in his Avengers film, and Singer has yet to disclose who would play the role of Scarlet Witch in his X-Men film.
We would like to think that if Disney and Warner Bros. can come together and have Mickey Mouse stand next to Bugs Bunny in ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” then Fox and Marvel/Disney can come together on this one. Unless it turns out that Peters is a terrible Quicksilver, or someone like Megan Fox is cast as the Scarlet Witch; then we would be grateful for ‘The Avengers 2’ changing the roster.
