One life-sized Rebel X-Wing Fighter made out of Legos, someone’s dream come true

If Legos are anything, they are the building blocks of imagination. While many of us probably thought we were Lego-Engineers in our earlier days, none of us came close to this.
Above you see a life-sized Rebel X-Wing class fighter, the same Luke Skywalker piloted on his famous run at the Death Star. The craft was built by a team of 32, who built the 45,980 pound replica using five-million lego bricks over 17,000 hours (roughly 708 days when served consecutively). The replica is now on display here in New York, were photos of the achievement have been floating across the internet.
The new ship is the centerpiece to the grand premier of ‘Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles’, which is a new animated series set to begin on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 on Cartoon Network. After it’s NY debut, the X-Wing will fly west, though its exact destination was not disclosed.
