Comedies are a cut-throat industry this year on cable networks, as ’30 Rock’ and ‘The Office’ as well as other series wind-down, CBS is ready to take a chance on the next possible hit.
To cover its bases, CBS is adding quite a few comedies to the 2013-2014 primetime lineup. Dana Klein will produce a new multicamera show based on a group of friends in their 30’s who are constantly jealous of each other’s easier lifestyle. It will be Entourage’s Kevin Connolly and Apartment 23’s (Dawson’s Creek) James Van Der Beek and Battleship’s Brooklyn Decker. It was also Klein who wrote the pilot and the show will be executive produced with Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan. James Burrows was the director on the pilot and will also star Rick Donald, Zoe Lister Jones and Majandra Delfino..
This show is the fifth comedy overall in CBS’ lineup, Van Der Beek will be returning shortly after ABC canceled ‘Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23’ where he played a very egotistical version of himself.
