United Kingdom is the first confirmed production site for Star Wars VII

It’s hard to believe that ‘Star War: Episode VII’ was just announced, probably because like so many others, I’ve been waiting decades to see it.

Although the story may take place in a galaxy far, far away the film will still be shot here on Earth. The first filming location was confirmed on Friday, specifically in the United Kingdom. This isn’t new to the series, in fact, Lucas used London’s soundstages while making the first three films and partly with prequels. It was all the planning of U.K.’s leading finance minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, who courted Disney with tax-exemptions and ohter benefits.
It was Osborne himself that broke the news stating on Twitter, “Just confirmed: the next Star Wars film will be made in UK. Great news for our creative industries. May the force be with us…..”

No other information was given at this time, still up for discussion is when production will start and which location will host the film’s director J.J. Abrams.
