It looks like there will be another contender in the tiny-tablet race. An 8″ Acer tablet that supports Windows 8 has been spotted online prior to its official announcement.
There were already leaked images of the device back in April but this is the first price-point that has been associated with the device. Amazon had the tablet listed as the “Acer’s W3-810 tablet” with a price starting at just $379.99. That would come with a dual-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom processor and 2GB of RAM. There will also be an 8.1-inch (1280 x 800) display. This would be a 32GB version, with a 2-megapixel front and rear camera. This model would come one micro USB 2.0 port and a micro-HDMI port.
There are still rumors that Microsoft will launch their own 7″ or 8″ model (possibly both) to compete with the lower-priced tablets being offered today. The size, weight and price-point of the Acer W3-810 puts in on track to go after the Apple iPad Mini and the Kindle Fire HD, as well as other lower-priced and smaller tablet designs.
