HBO has confirmed with us that Sarah Silverman will headline her first HBO comedy special in the coming months. Here are the details.
The initial announcement came from Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, who announced that the taped show will take place in Los Angeles this May. The comedy special will be an exclusive presentation called “SARAH SILVERMAN: WE ARE MIRACLE”S. It will be presented in association with Funny Or Die and debut on the network this fall.
“Sarah Silverman is a fresh, fearless and utterly original comedy voice,” said Lombardo. “I’m thrilled that we can bring the humor of this unique talent to our viewers.” The actress recently received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy Series for “The Sarah Silverman Program,” and was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for “Monk.” She won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics as one of the writers of a song for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and her feature-film credits include “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Take This Waltz,” “The School of Rock” and “Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic”.
She will soon begin production on Seth McFarlane’s “A Million Ways to Die in the West.” She previously appeared on HBO on “Mr. Show with Bob and David,” “The Larry Sanders Show” and “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Silverman is the author of the New York Times bestseller “The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption and Pee.”
