It looks like Emma Watson and her kleptomaniac friends will be making a stop at the Cannes Film Festival later this month.
It was confirmed today that the film “The Bling Ring”, which was directed by Sofia Coppola, will premier during the Un Certain Regard portion of the events. This disqualifies the film from receiving the Palme d’Or (the festival’s most prestigious award), but it gives the film some great buzz going into opening weekend. That is to say if it is well received, which judging by Sofia Coppola’s earlier work, shouldn’t be a problem.
The film itself stars Katie Chang, Israel Broussard and Taissa Farmiga alongside Emma Watson. The story is based on actual events that occurred in Hollywood. The story follows a group of teenagers that conned their way into social-groups, clubs and exclusive circles and would steal from Hollywood’s elite.
