Lionsgate, Internet Explorer partner for ‘Hunger Games Catching Fire’ social site

Just a few hours after the debut trailer for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ premiered at the MTV Music Awards, two companies have announced a new social-media site for fans to interact with their favorite series.
Lionsgate and Internet Explorer announced the debut of ‘The Hunger Games Explorer’, a new website designed to be the “online destination for fans to find all of The Hunger Games content they’re looking for”, according to A release sent out from the two companies
The website will monitor and share all of the new content released for the film, leading up to the November 22, release of the second installment of the franchise. The site will “track every development in the franchise, including fan blogs, talent tweets, exclusive images and videos”. In reality the site is a social aggregator, bringing in both “official and fan-generated content” from across the web into one place for fans.
According to a prepared statement sent out today, “users will be able to search, filter and share content directly from the site, providing an incredible experience for utility and discovery”. The site was built with Internet Explorer 10, integrating multi-touch technology for an easy customer experience.
“We have the best fans in the world, and starting tonight they have a home on the web where they can be a part of The Hunger Games experience and contribute to the excitement for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” said Danielle De Palma , senior vice president digital marketing, Lionsgate. “The Hunger Games Explorer is not only a place for fans to spark the conversation around The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, but also a destination where we can continue to provide fans with new content, experiences and unprecedented behind-the-scenes access.”
