Natalie Dormer of Game of Thrones, to play Irene Adler in Elementary
The “Game of Thrones’ actress, Natalie Dormer has been selected to play Irene Adler in the CBS series “Elementary”.
Natalie Dormer has had a quite a fantastic career of late, not only has she appeared in HBO’s immensely popular series ‘Game of Thrones’, she also had a role in ‘The Tudors’, and she will be featured in the upcoming Ron Howard movie “Rush”.
The actor has signed on for a three-episode arc, where she will play the role Sherlock Holmes’ former lover, Irene Adler. CBS promises that the storyline will be building to a “climactic two-hour season finale”. That is scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 9 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on the CBS.
For those of you that need to be refreshed, Irene Adler was Sherlock’s first and only love in London. Her mysterious murder by the hands of Moriarty caused Sherlock’s downward spiral into drug addiction.
“We’re moving to the next chapter in our show – and in some ways, to a previous chapter in Holmes’ story,” said Executive Producer and creator Rob Doherty. “Irene Adler is perhaps the most pivotal relationship in Sherlock’s life, and I can’t think of an actress better suited to the challenge than Natalie.”
