Tecmo Koei’s American branch had some exciting news for fans of the ‘Dynasty Warrior’ franchise this morning. The latest installment of the series is set to launch in new regions this summer.
The game will hit North America and Europe on July 16th, 2013 for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. The game once again follows the stories of the “kingdoms of Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin” dynasties as players relive “historical military and political figures of the time as they fight to gain control over the Three Kingdoms of China”.
Tecmo Koei mentioned a few new gameplay elements of the title, in a prepared statement sent out today the company mentioned “numerous replay elements like multi-endings and extra modes with synergies between action and game systems” will be included in the game.
The ‘Story Mode’ will have new episodes and characters and will also include all new ‘What if?’ scenarios. Tecmo Koei talks about the new mechanic, “breaking away from historical fact, this mode takes a look at what could have happened if famous characters had lived to fight another day”. The company continued, “Stories branch out to different outcomes providing variety in the course and ending of the game, and giving the players the power to view an alternate version of history depending on their choices”.
Players will get to choose from 70 playable characters, and will experience a “stronger emphasis in the stage of these epic battles and inspired by the landscape of ancient China” according to the publisher.
